A few days ago, Forbes published an article about summer jobs. The article speaks to the search most teens will have this summer for a job. In the article, they suggest using ChatGPT to help.
Now, when I first read the title, I thought What? ChatGPT to find a job? Why not Indeed or Ziprecruiter? Or just going to some the local stores and malls in your city? You know, the same way that number of us found those summer jobs. So, I was instantly skeptical. Because of that skepticism and the curious mind, I read on. The article suggests, when used correctly, ChatGPT can be a powerful tool to help them navigate from ideas to the action itself. But you need to be intentional in these searches.

So, they have shared 4 prompts for ChatGPT to search summer jobs.
~They suggest having realistic ideas.
Which is a good idea, considering the fact that they will only being working on it for a few months. For example, asking for 10 ideas for a side job. And when doing so, include your interests in the search. So, if you like to teach, You can ask, “Give me 10 ideas for teaching for a summer job.” They suggest tutoring younger children in reading or test prep.
(All of the others suggested was, Babysitting, Lawn care, Organizing or home de-cluttering, Pet sitting and walking)
And one really great idea, is offering social media or basic marketing services for local businesses. And this one is a really great idea, considering the fact that 99.9999 percent of teens can’t be without their phones. Using it for a helpful, useful purpose would be ideal.
~Asking about which options will be profitable
That is where I fell short, with my first blog. Of course, ChatGPT didn’t exist then. But you want to make good money while being out of school. Doing your due diligence could be instrumental in finding your job. They suggests, 1. Figuring out a problem and how you can solve it. 2. Something with no start-up cost, preferably. But if there is something that has a low cost, that’s good.
~What is a great plan to get your first paying customer?
And of course, most people don’t ask that question. But you need to know. They feel the best way to get started is to: 1. Texting and emailing family, neighbors and friends. 2. Post in Facebook: local groups 3. Reach out to local businesses. My suggestion: Planning and stream-lining your schedule. You want to go and get your client list and then creating a plan to execute towards the goal. Manage your time well and organize your lists for clients.
(Now, I personally suggest creating a spreadsheet and excel sheet for your prices and for receipts. Write down your costs for work and how much people owe.)
~ChatGPT is a useful tool, but working matters more
It is easy to think that with ChatGPT will help you solve all for your problems. But it won’t. It’s like having a calculator. You still need to be able to do mental math. Most content creators Hates ChatGPT! They will always say, “Stop using ChatGPT to do your posts! We already know that’s not you creating!”
The thing is, while it’s great to have these apps, it’s still important that we don’t rely on them for everything. I love the idea of researching something traditionally. I know that it is important to have these resources, but I still think that it’s a good idea to let the young people actively look around their city, go into stores and seeing if they are hiring. I think that it would be good for them to go out and get what they want. It will show them how to be a go-getter. How to jump in, with both feet and get that income they need. But, that’s just my opinion.
Now, I want yours. What do you think about it? What do you think about the Forbes article? Do you approve of using ChatGPT for job hunting? Feel free to comment.
