So, this title and post was inspired by one of my favorites, Tess Barclay. She was talking about this is in a January podcast episode. In speaking about plans for 2026, she was talking about consistency. Not overthinking it, just posting. And that is something that I completely agree with. Like she was saying, doing a brain dump. Just unloading your ideas on paper and just getting it out there. Your vision and your ideas. Anything that you want to write down and build upon. Write it! And then she said something that was just incredibly inspired.
Instead of creating a big vision board, create a to-do list and a wish list! Obviously, the to-do list would be things that you can control. Looking at your content and figuring out what you want to accomplish. It could be anything. Like, are there some things that you want to add your blog? On your social media? Your podcasts? Do you want re-design your page and give your work a facelift? It could be batching content. Doesn’t matter, put it on paper.
Then, you write your wish list. The things that you dream of. Like, would you like to go on a talk show or your favorite podcast? Maybe you want to write a book and go on a book tour across the country? It could be a follower goal or income goal. Regardless of what it is, you can add to your wish list. Nothing is too crazy!
Then, she mentioned trying something new, like having a meeting with yourself! It may sound weird to some, (although, it makes perfect sense to me!) I think that it is a great idea. And while you can do it at home, but there’s nothing wrong with going to your favorite coffee shop or restaurant and make a plan for the next month. You can sit and plan out your b-roll, your posts, your social media, etc. And you know what? While you’re sitting there, you can get started on some b-roll. Make sure you take your tripod and you can film yourself in the restaurant or coffee shop, typing, enjoying a coffee, what have you. Of course, you don’t have to film in a building. You can go to the park, enjoy nature and while you are there, you can film.
As I am learning, being a content creator is about seizing the moment. Content is all around us, there is no one way to do this. It is your eye, your art, your story. To tell anyway that you want. Doing your research when you want to try and do something new and then when you are ready, revealing that to the world!
It’s just awesome. What do you think about this advice? Have you heard this episode before? Will you implement any of these things? And if you would like, feel free to share.
