This is a very real question that must be answered. I mean, think about it: Look at the status of content creation. Which is growing rapidly and it is being seen by people. And what people are seeing, the companies are seeing it, too. This is why so many creators are building amazing businesses and incomes. The art of content creation is so diverse and unique. Each voice is strong and clear. Even if you’re new like me, you are learning daily. Experimenting and testing theories. But you are improving. Through the successes and mistakes. The story is being written, one post at a time.

There was once a time, not long ago, when if you could cook brilliant meals and build furniture, homes, create gorgeous landscapes, you more than likely would have a TV show. Youtube wasn’t around. So, if you were that talented, you had a show that would air on a Saturday or something. When people viewed your work, it was controlled by the network. The carpenters, designers, chefs and artists didn’t have much control over their own shows. That is why so many of these people have left these networks and have started over on different networks. Where are they are seen and have more control over their own work. This is also why so many actors and actresses are becoming directors, writers and producers.

But, if you look at some of the content creators, most of them are getting more views than mainstream media, talk show and late-night show hosts. For example, one of my favorite channels, Garden Answer posts early in the morning, and they get 12,000 to 15,000 views in the first hour, usually. Meanwhile, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will interview a famous guest and then they might post a video of the interview shortly after it airs. And some of those videos will get 6,000+ views in their first hour! I realized this, after listening to another one of my favorite content creators, Tess Barclay. She mentioned this in one of her videos. But I also wonder if the time of day when their content is posted, makes a difference. Example: Garden Answer posts first thing in the morning, while Jimmy’s show will post after midnight. So, that’s something to consider. But I noticed the numbers of these videos and I have been watching them for a while. Hot Ones recently posted a video of BTS and they received almost 2 million views within the first couple of hours it went live!

Like it’s just amazing to me! This world of content creation is literally taking over mainstream entertainment! Podcasts have been replacing radio shows for a long time now. You used to just tune into your favorite radio show for music and news. Now, people are choosing podcasts over radio, more often than not. There were once countless late-night shows across different networks. Now, there is maybe 4 shows left, perhaps 5. And now, if someone wants to watch something interesting at night, they are tuning into channels on Youtube or streaming networks. I mean, look at how many shows and movies are exclusively made for Amazon Prime, Apple TV, HBOMAX, Hulu, Peacock, Netflix and all of the others. So many actors and actresses are on shows made for streaming and being nominated for awards. More freedom and openness, in terms of creativity and promotion.

Being a small part of this content creator community is fascinating to me. It is unlike anything I have ever done before. No day looks the same. Each day, you are doing something different for your business. One day, you are creating reels and carousels for IG. Later in the day, (if your business has grown to the point where you have a team,) you might be having virtual meetings with your team. Next, you’re creating posts for the next day or batching content. And that’s one of the things that I absolutely love about this. The freedom and creativity of making what you want. And I do hope that networks start making better decisions about their lineups. Because as I always say, there are too many things to watch and places to watch them, for networks to be making reckless decisions. And with the content creator world only getting bigger, we could change the world of media forever!
