(Let’s see if this works!)
So, for the past few months, I have been looking at the IG pages of content creators, trying to figure out what they do to grow on the platform. Most of them have between 50, 000 and 800,000 followers! Some of them have been content creators for a long time, others for a shorter period. I thought that had something to do with it, tenure. Turns out, it doesn’t.
A large majority of the creators have been making content for a long time. But that hasn’t determined how quickly they would grow. On each account, they have countless reels and carousels on how to grow and what methods worked the best. Each one has similar plans and tips they say will work but they all will say one or more things won’t work, and sometimes that varies. Some say that it’s not about how often you post, it’s about the quality.

Others say post very often, to help the algorithm figure out how and to whom to share your work with. Others say that you make polish content and make it good. Others say that raw and real unpolished content is better. Due to its authenticity and the fact that it’s hard for AI to replicate real, unpolished, genuine content. You will be told to make sure that your page looks appealing to non-followers.
Meaning, your bio should include who you help, (generally your target audience), then you should show results (the responses from your students/clients), and any products, classes or services you offer, (i.e. personal websites, stan store, etc.) They want you to connect everything that you have, with the public. You are supposed to niche down and come up with one specific thing that you can bring to the table. They say this helps the algorithm figure how to market you, so to speak. And if you are planning on selling a product, creating one on Canva is the most effective way to get it done.

After studying and absorbing so much information, one thing is most clear: I don’t know what specifically works best! I have tried some of the methods and they haven’t worked as well for me. Now, I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or what. I have looked at my page, and I see some things that needs some updating. But I don’t have a clear direction.
So, what I have decided to do is to try them again. Except this time, I want to try more of them. Figure out what I have been doing wrong and work towards making it better. One of the things that no one tells you about social media, if you’re not used to being active on the platforms, is that there is a science to this thing. But it’s not a direct science. It changes. It can change instantly. One minute, you may think that you have the algorithm figured out and the next, something else totally different happens, than expected.
Lately, there have been some major updates announced in regard to Instagram and Youtube, but I will cover that in another post. Meanwhile, comment below and let me know if you have had any issues with growth on IG? Have you tried any of the methods that I mentioned? Which ones worked best for you? Do you have any tips that you found in your experience, that you feel works best?
