A field that is growing rapidly is that, of content creating. Content creators are taking over in a new way, unlike anything that I have ever seen before. Many people have left corporate careers, 9-5 jobs, and other jobs to work from home as content creators. Of course, many people started before the pandemic. However, a great increase in this field came during the pandemic, when people were stuck in their homes.
I am in awe of people brave enough to take that leap. Throw caution to the wind, with little more than a belief in themselves and a determination to succeed. It is just inspiring. I completely understand what it is like to work hard for a company and feel that your work is not as important because you are not a favorite of management. It is frustrating, Easy to say, “We’re a team. We must work together to get the work done.” But when you can clearly see that the teamwork dynamic is not being implemented, for some but for the others, it’s just annoying. I see why so many people have taken that leap and have decided to work for themselves.
I have been looking into this for a while now. I am quite curious about becoming a content creator. I know that it’s going to be a lot of work, but I am up for the challenge. I have been watching many Youtube channels of content creators and I feel like I am attending a university with different professors, all teaching about content creating, editing, strategies, etc. Understanding the importance of not getting overwhelmed with creating content for multiple platforms to figuring out your style.
And let me tell you, I have been taking notes, watching, listening and learning. Fascinating! Many things to figure out. Deciding:
~Who is your audience?
~What type of content do you want to create?
~What platforms will you choose?
~Long form or short form? Or both?
~Should you monetize your work or not?
~Finding out about the equipment you will need
There are so many things to consider upon deciding whether this is the right choice or not. But every single content creator I have watched, all say the same thing. Just do it! Many of them say that every content creator has made videos when they first started that they aren’t proud of. But they all say, just get started. The rest will work itself out. So, the question is…
So, should I? Or shouldn’t I?
